As part of a new branding launch, we looked to revamp and renew our website. With the launch of our new products (Virtual Spaces) we looked to showcase them in the most powerful way possible.
There were two main challenges to consider with this collaboration:
1. Develop a concept that speaks to the VSLB brand voice and image.
2. Integrate all three Virtual Spaces into a smooth animation.
Along with the three Virtual Space, we produced a product design for a home speaker.
ESCAPE THE NOISE
The way music is experienced has dramatically changed over the last decade. A majority of people experience music alone with headphones. As noise-cancelling headphones become more powerful and better at cutting out the noise of the world around you, it also removes the experience to share music.
Our concept for the Abstract Space and Interior Space are places for an intimate shared music experience. This will transport the audience to a place where they can still escape the noise of the world, while also sharing the pleasures of music together.
LO-FI vs. HI-FI
At VSLB we constantly push the possibility limits and combine concepts and feelings that are normally opposite to each other.
Some previous concepts we have produced are:
– Nature vs. Captivity – Traditional vs. Modern – Timeless vs. Futuristic
For this concept we wanted to combine ‘Lo-fi’ vs. ‘Hi-fi’.
Lo-fi (short for low-fidelity) is a music or production quality which is characterized by slow tempos and relaxed moods.
Hi-fi (short for high-fidelity) is a term used by listeners and home audio enthusiasts to refer to high-quality reproduction of sound.
We want our concept to combine these two contrasting genres of music.
Lo-fi will be represented by the ambience of the space, the materials in the surrounding environment and colors. Our reference for this is the landscapes of Iceland.
Hi-fi will be represented by the speaker itself (a reference to its superior audio quality). From this representation the speaker will always be connected to a premium material, further pushing the representation of hi-fi.
Each 3D Virtual Space is crafted to reflect the VSLB brand culture and style.
